Families nowadays are moving more and more towards adopting contemporary rituals and spiritual ceremonies to mark life's special occasions. This is especially true when it comes to welcoming new children to the family or celebrating the choosing of a new name by an older child or adult.
Naming ceremonies are always rich with possibilities, whether it is through adopting ancient customs or by developing a ceremony from scratch. Each one has its own unique blend of hope for the future and love that created the occasion in the first place - what better reason could there be to celebrate?
Whether you are celebrating with the whole clan like the Woodlock family or holding a small and intimate gathering like Amelia's naming day it is a wonderful celebration to honour the child, the parents, the grandparents and the family and friends.
My naming book has lots of ideas to get you started. Always K.I.S.S - keep it short and simple... as there is a young child involved!
I always prefer environments where it is going to be quiet and out of the elements. If guests can be seated then this is also a great advantage.
I will be writing next month's newsletter on the challenges of naming ceremonies and how to overcome them ... so sign up now for the newsletter.
