The full day OPD course includes the following two activities:

Compulsory Activity - Code 07015 - 3 hours

Establishing that the Proposed Marriage will be Valid.

Dealing with the Unexpected Leading up to and on the day of the Wedding Ceremony - Minimising, Managing and Overcoming Challenges as a Celebrant - Code 07816 - 2 hours

Blue sunny skies, the bride is on time, your equipment is ready to go, the ceremony is perfect? and then the unexpected happens.

It may be that the wedding rings have been forgotten or that the wrong music has been played ; a little more challenging is that the flower girl throws up on her way down the aisle or there are hecklers at the back of the ceremony; or a worst case scenario is that a groom dies on the way to the ceremony. These incidents have happened to celebrants and they have had to deal with them in the moment. This session will be providing us with valuable resources to minimise, manage and overcome challenges as a celebrant.

Each of the following activities cover the 2 hours OPD and are suitable for new or experienced celebrants performing religious or civil marriage ceremonies.

1. OPD Activity 07371: Create Your Own Inspiring Wedding Ceremony (Four hours)

An exploration and creation of each stage in a marriage ceremony using the book "Create Your Own Inspiring Wedding Ceremony" This activity contains lots of ideas, stories and ceremony examples. The book has been praised by celebrants and couples all over Australia as being an inspiring resource to work with. You will be required to answer a short questionnaire that is not a test however it ensures an understanding of the legal requirements of the Attorney-General's Department with regard to the creation of a legal marriage ceremony.

The complete package costs $90

2. OPD Activity 07810: A Rich and Meaningful Introduction for a Wedding Ceremony (Two hours)

This activity will focus on how to develop the story of the couples meeting and what marriage means for them to create a rich and meaningful introduction for their wedding ceremony. There is an assignment to complete, once again it is not a test, however it will ascertain that you have understood the concepts presented. It is an very interesting and practical course that will open up many beautiful possibilities for a couples ceremony - simply and easily. You will need to complete a questionnaire and complete two activities. You will then receive a certificate of completion and more examples and ideas.

3. OPD Activity 07809: Creating Personal and Inspiring Readings and Blessings for a Wedding Ceremony (2 hours)

Assisting your couple to create a personal blessing or reading for their ceremony is simpler than you may think. You don?t have to be Shakespeare to write great love sonnets. This activity is aimed at giving you an easy step by step guide for the creation of unique and personally composed readings and blessings.

The complete package costs $90

Last year the first two activities were welcomed and given exceptional feedback by both civil and religious celebrants. The third activity is a new product. It has been wonderful to receive such enthusiasm and interest in both activities and I know they will serve to inspire and encourage the sharing and shaping of many new ideas and personal wedding ceremonies throughout the community.
