Holding hands in quiet places

Today I spent the afternoon sitting by mum in hospital just holding her hand as she drifted in and out of consciousness. She has just had a knee replacement operation hot on the heels after finishing her last chemo treatment (her third time). My mum is a battler and a fighter. She inspires people with her courage and determination no matter what. I have moved in to their home to be with dad and it is very relaxing having the time to just be with dad in the evenings - playing Rummy O a great game which is easy to share with him. Mum is improving and we hope to bring her home on Monday.

It was a privilege just to sit with her and hold her hand while she slept, touching her soft skin on her lower arm and massaging gently her forehead.

I picked up a beautiful bunch of Bienfelt Roses grown just north of Coffs and they were admired by the nurses and patients alike. Real home grown roses rich with smell and colour. Mum loved them when she awoke.

Tomorrow we will go again in the morning to the hospital before I take my dad fishing to catch his lunch!  ... read more
